WEEK 3 TUTORIALS
HISTORY OF GRAPHIC DESIGN TIMELINE
Self Critique:
In the History of Graphic Design infographic, I notice there a consistent pattern of shapes (Rectangles and Ovals) and the colors that are mainly used are primary colors. There is also line on around the timeline and on the timeline itself. There is space in between the shapes and the squiggly lines. There is emphasis on the dates, which was intended because it highlights the time period of each information on the timeline. What I could have done better was making the infographic more interesting and detailed rather than plain and simple, I also think that I could have changed the color of the background so it wouldn't look too weird, but what I liked about it, was that it made the colors pop out more and it reminds me of an arcade floor or bowling. The title is in a bit of an awkward setting because of the arc and the awkward space beneath it, which I could also have done much better by not adding the arc. I have mixed feelings about this infographic because it's more of my style but yet, I believe I could have done much more better.

Business Card
Self-Critique:
In the business card I made, I notice that I mostly used blue and orange. My logo consists of a butterfly with an orange circle behind it. Elements of Design I notice in the card are; Value within the wings of the butterfly and the texts. Line on the butterfly, texts, and outline of the logo. The range of cool and warm tones (blue and orange), and Shape in the card (oval, circle, and rectangle). Principles of Design I see are; Pattern from the consistent use of blue and orange, and Contrast on the butterfly, I think my business card turned out successful because there isn't too much going on in the picture, it has a sense of simplicity. I like the colors I used in the card and I overall think it fits me as an artist.

Portrait and Half tone
Reflection:
In the pictures above, I see Kris standing in the field located behind the school. (I cropped the second picture because weebly said that the picture was too big) He has a dull/resting expression, which I think there is a feeling of seriousness the photo create. The way the photo is positioned makes Kris the main focus of the photo, I notice the texture on his button up and his face, hair and the background. There is value and color within both of the pictures above. Space all around him and Line on the buildings and Kris. I see pattern in the dots of the second picture and the flowers behind him. Unity of the use of blue and orange in the half tone photo. I don't believe there is a strong message behind the photo, although I do think that the photos came out successful because of the vibrance in the flowers and the photo itself. The half tone photo also came out successful in my opinion because of the colors I used and the contrast/ value of shadows.

Copying the Artist - Zipeng Zhu
Reflection: For this assignment, I chose to copy off of Zipeng Zhu's design for a podcast about immigrants and the children of immigrants,"First Gen, Conversation." I liked the colors Zhu chose and the way it was proportioned drew me to the design. I turned his design into a message about puppy mills and how you should not support the mills because of their poor treatment of the dogs, adopting is way better than spending thousands of dollars on just one puppy. Elements and Principles of Designs I notice in the design are line within the words and the figures, Pattern in the "ADOPT DON'T BUY" message, Color, Shape, Texture within the paper like shape on the bottom of the picture, and Emphasis on the bold lettering. I'm pretty satisfied with the outcome of my copied design, but I would be 100% satisified if I was able to copy the way Zhu separated the photos in his design. Other than that, I like the clearness and the bubbles I added to my version.
Collage Digital Mix

Reflection: For this assignment, we had to combine collaging and digital. I put together 3 pieces of images from magazines and I digitally added the font and outlines. This collage has various symbols that correlate to the message "TRUST." Trust can be a hard thing to have, although, some people can blindly trust or feel trapped and conflicted to trust. Elements and Principles of Design I notice in this image are Texture in the cloth, fire, and the wires around the model. Value and Contrast within the shadows of the cloth and model. Emphasis on the font and Color in the image. Space between the lines and Shape. I am pretty satisfied with the way this came out, I think it shows my style and there's nothing I'd change.
Final/Youngarts Progress
![Picture](/uploads/9/0/2/9/90294979/published/img-2166.jpg?250)
Reflection:
For my Youngarts theme, I decided that I will base it on "Woman-hood" and femininity. For the first piece I'm making, it will be an acrylic painting. On the bottom of my piece, there will be a stream of water passing down and thorns surrounding the mother and baby. I'm still deciding on what to make the background color because I want the color to give a feel of sorrow and pain. The symbolism of the thorns and water represent the trials a woman goes through from being a mother. The tear from the mother coming down represents the stream of water, making it a stream of tears.
