PHOTOSHOP TUTORIALS
REFLECTIONS:
In the picture on the left, I see my dog Max seated and secured in the backseat with her two front legs hanging. In the picture on the right, I see a red colored image of myself in front of an arcade machine with a serious expression, everything around me is blurred besides my face. The emotion I feel when I look at the right picture is anger because of the red and expression. The left picture has elements and principles of texture (fur and towel), shape (Max), and value and contrast (shadows on Max). Cropping the image creates the main focus on Max and supports the message of the image. The message you get from the photo of Max is that you should secure your pets when you take them for a ride. I think the photo of Max was successful because the color/contrast of her fur pops out and it gives a clear message to the audience. In the right picture, I see elements and principles of line (from the arcade machine), shape (my face), value and contrast (the shadows within my face and the range of black and white), and color (the photo is red). I personally think this photo of me was successful because the emotion is pretty obvious due to the color and expression made in the photo.

PORTRAIT ASSIGNMENT S
REFLECTIONS:
In the first photo (left), I used one of my classmates, Alex to model for me because of how symmetrial his face is. The image creates a warm serious emotion because of his stern look and the warm tones of the image. Elements and Principles of design used in this photo is; shape (his face), texture (from his hair and sweater), value (shadows on his skin), and balance (due to the symmetry of his face). The cropping of the image was successful because it creates a focal point on the picture, it mainly focuses on him. I personally don't believe there would be a strong message behind the photo because it looks like a normal portrait of a person. In the second and third photo (middle and right), Avani was the model for the pictures because we were partnered together. The photo in the middle gives off the feeling of eleganance because of how calm and warm she looks. I see elements of texture and value from her hair and sweater, color of her skin, and line from her checkered blouse. Principles I see are; variety (outfit) and balance from her hair and the symmetry of her face. I like how this photo turned out because of the way the color of her hair shows and how symmetrical her face is, although I don't like how warmly saturated her face is and I would have made her done a different pose so it doesn't seen repetitive between the middle and right pictures. In the third photo (right), Avani is doing the same pose but her head is tilted to the left and it's less warm, the backdrop is black and her expression is more calmer than the second photo. Elements and Principles of design I notice are; values from the shadows, color and pattern from her blouse, and contrast of black in her hair. I like how the color of her hair did not blend into the backdrop and you are still able to see her hair, which turned out successful. I wouldn't do anything different with the picture because I personally like how visually pleasing it looks.

AWKWARD PHOTOSHOOT ASSIGNMENT
In the first picture. I used Kris as my model. The type of emotion I get from looking at this picture is anger because of the expression on his face. Elements of Design I see in this black and white photo are; Values on Kris' hair, face, and clothing, Space in his arms, and Texture in his hair. Principles of Design that are used in the image are; Balance and Contrast within his body and I think I did well in the cropping of the image because you can still see the model's body, nothing is cut off. The body language of the model and expression gives a clear message of how he may be upset. I think this image turned out somewhat successful because nothing is cropped weirdly and it does give an awkward feeling because of the way he is standing with his arms out in an angle. Although, one thing I would change about the image is the focus, the image looks a bit blurry.
In the second picture, I see Aloe bending forward to catch the hat with her head. I definitely think this image out of the three pictures is the most awkward because of the expression on her face and the way she's positioned. I notice Values in the whole image itself, Line in her glasses amd earphones, Shape in the hat, and Space within her and the hat. I see Contrast and Balance in the picture because of the allignment of the photo and the values on her. There isn't a message behind this photo because all that's there to it is motion and awkwardness. I also believe that I could have made this photo better by making the quality more clean and focused, but I think this image was successful because of the cropping.
In the third picture, I used Isis as my model and what I like about this photo is; even though it's not awkward (which is my mistake) like the other photos, the quality is clearer compared to the last two images and the motion in this image reminds me of a skincare or haircare commercial. The emotion I see in this photo is happiness because of her big smile. In this image, I noticed that you can see the Texture of her curls and the Values in it, along with her in general. You can see Line and Shape in her clothing and the chair she is sitting in. There is Emphasis on her expression and the motion of the photo. I personally think that this image is successful because of the way it turned out, the emotion is clear, BUT it does not have any correllation with the theme (which is awkward) of this assignment, which was my mistake.

OUTDOOR PICTURE
In the picture of the outdoor assignment, I see Kris resting his head on his hand with the expression of boredom. It didn't give me much of an emotional impact beside the fact that I get an impression that he's bored. I made him look bored because this assignment is supposed to have a story behind the image, and the story I came up with is feeling bored at school because sometimes boredom occurs in classes, especially if it's not your favorite class, it could also mean that routine eventually becomes boring. I notice that the image consists of mostly cool tones and the background has little warmth in it. I see line and shape on the table and on his sweater. The background is blurred, which creates more of an emphasis/focal point on Kris. I see contrast and value around and on Kris and some value on his sweater, there is also texture because of his curly hair. I think that this image turned out to be successful because of the colors and usage of shade, I also photoshopped the crumbs on the table which makes it seem like it was never there, which I think it was also a successful part in the picture.
MOTION /DARK MOOD
In this image, I see Danny standing in front of masks with tape on her mouth while holding a red bowl with dead leaves and holding a spoon with a dead butterfly on it, along with the motion of her head. The emotion I get from this photo is frustration/anger because of the expression on her face. I notice all 6 Elements of Design, which are; Texture, Value, Line, Space, Color, and Shape. I notice Texture in the background, the leaves in the bowl, and texture on her clothes. There is Value in Danny's hair and the masks behind her. Line on the bowl, wood planks, her hands, and necklace. There is Space in the background and within her arms. The image has a range of warm and cool tones, warm tones are; the red in the bowl, the orange logo on her shirt, the butterfly, and the leaves.Cool tones are the green on her shirt, the blue tape on her mouth, and the color of the wall, as well as the wood color. Shapes I see are the circle on the bowl, the face, and the blue tape.Elements of Design that I observed in this image are; Pattern on the faces, Emphasis on the bright colors of the tape and logo on her shirt, Balance in the background, between the two wooden planks that are holding the faces. The focal point is on Danny because she is set in the middle of the image, I feel like what I could have done better with the cropping is that I should have included the two other wooden planks with faces on them so it wouldn't feel too enclosed. The story behind this picture could be that she feels extremely frustrated because she's not able to eat anything because she is restrained from eating (the tape on her mouth symbolizes that), but little does she know, she's being fed dead items (dead leaves and butterfly). I think this image turned out successful for the motion part and the dark feeling of the photo, but what I could have done better was the cropping of the photo.
Monochromatic Still Life
In this Monochromatic Still Life photo, I notice a variety of red objects scattered around. This photo gives me a nostalgic feeling because the apples, balloons, cars, snack clip, crayon and colored pencil remind me of childhood. Elements of Design I notice are; Value in the objects, Space in between the objects, Color from the red, Line and Shape on the objects. Principles of Design I see are; Emphasis on the Altoids box, Pattern and Contrast in the use of color and objects. The Altoid box is in the rule of thirds and is the main focal point of the image. The message behind this photo is about childhood because of the usage of objects. I think this image turned out to be successful with the cropping and overall because the message is easy to tell and everything sort of works well together, a sense of balance/unity.
Challenge of Truth/ Changing Stories Submission:
"Boy Gloss"
Series: Reflection
In these series of pictures, I see a mirror reflecting two hands doing various forms of hand holding with different backgrounds. Kris was my partner for these images because it creates an emotional impact personally. Elements of Design I notice are; Texture within the background (flowers, water fountain wall, tree bark, grass, and clouds), Value on the hands' shadows and background, Line, Space around the mirror, Color, and Shape. Principles of Design I see are; Contrast within the Values, Pattern in the backgrounds (grass, fountain, and tree), and Emphasis on the hands. The message I'm giving my audience from these pictures are pretty clear, the different forms of hand holding show a feeling of vulnerability and closeness between two people who share a romantic bond. I think I could have fixed the picture with the flowers because it seems a little too saturated to me and bright, but overall I'm glad with the outcome of these pictures because I took these pictures with one hand while my other hand was holding his.
Dream
Reflection:
In the image, I see a person playing chess with the reflection of himself, the hand is getting ready to place the piece elsewhere. I see Texture within the grass, the chess pieces/chess board, and the clothing. I notice Value and Contrast within the shadows and skin tone, Space between the chessboard and the grass, Color in skin, grass, and chess set. There is shape and line (Square) on the chessboard and all around the photo. I notce the pattern on the board and Variety of shapes and Elements. The photo is supposed to create this concept of dreams and how unusual , unique, and vivid dreams tend to be. The message behind the photo could be about challenging yourself or taking challenges. I think the photo turned out successful but it didn't go how I wanted it to go because I wanted Kris' full body in the reflection but I couldn't find an angle that fit everything in. Although, maybe the way it's cropped creates this mysterious vibe benhind it, so I'm not too disappointed with the way it turned out.

COPY AN ARTIST - SARAH MOON
Reflection: For this assignment, we were assigned photographers to gain inspiration from or to copy from, Danny and I got Sarah Moon. The reason for this assignment was to experiment with different styles and possibly start using it if we liked the style. I notice that for the hands with the beetle in it, it's somewhat a replica of the original, although the picture is a bit too dark compared to the original, the other two pictures have the same idea. Sarah Moon's pictures have more grain and a dream like fade, compared to the pictures we took and edited, which are more sharp and clear but also grained. Principles and Elements of Design that I notice in these pictures are mostly texture and contrast within the grain and the value's shadows. I also notice Space all around the picture. I think the middle and right picture turned out to be most successful because of the way it was edited. Although ,I would change the first picture's contrast and color balance. All in all, I'm proud of the way the pictures turned out.
Macro

Reflection: In this assignment, we used a macro lens to capture the photo. This was my first time experimenting with a macro lens and the lens acts like a super-zoom, you can see something tiny but be able to capture it up close with this type of lens. Elements and Principles of Design I see in this image I captured are; Pattern with the flowers, Line and Shape on the stems and petals, Color in the flowers and the grass, Space around and between the flowers and texture. Personally, I think this image turned out alright, it was a nice experimental assignment. It's like something you'd find on computer desktops.
Tutorials (3 Pictures)
In these 3 images, Environmental (1), Soft Focus (2), and Duotone (3) we had to put into photoshop and follow the tutorial we were assigned for each of the assignments. I notice that in all of the photos, they all share Principles and Elements of Design. They all have Line, Shape, Color, Contrast, Value, and Focal Points. For the first picture, there is texture in the trees and seagulls, there is also movement because the birds are flying. For the second picture, the color is intesified and the redness becomes more noticeable. The third picture's contrast of colors from purple in red. I'm satisfied with the photoshop outcomes of the pictures and I love how dreamy soft focus makes the second picture look, and I'm content with the color selection I chose for the third picture.
Outside Strobe
![Picture](/uploads/9/0/2/9/90294979/editor/estebanned_1.jpg?1559159996)
Reflection: For this assignment, we used an outdoor strobe and I used Esteban as my model for this assignment. Principles and Elements of Design I notice in this picture are; Lines on his clothing and all around the image, the body creates shape, as well as the background. I notice that Esteban is the focal point because he's the main focus of the photo and variety. I'm not too proud of the outcome of this picture because weebly makes the quality look bad but the original's quality is better. I think what I can improve more on this picture is the background, it's a bit too bright.
