SKETCHBOOK IDEAS/INFLUENCE
STYLE GUIDE, INFLUENCE MAP, CONCEPT MAP
Influence Map:
In my influence map, Elements of Art and Principles of Design I notice are; Shape and Form within the rectangle/circle shapes and the butterflies, Line, Color (use of oranges), Value, Pattern, and Variety. I arranged my influences in an upside down L shape because I wanted the pictures to be the focal point and I made butterflies to correlate to my use of symbolism within all my pieces. The reason behind my use of colors is that since I use butterflies in my pieces, I thought the colors would be the main theme of my maps. I think the font I used goes with the map because it reminds me of the curves of a butterfly.
Concept Map:
What I notice in my Concept Map is the same use of Shape and Form as my Influence Map, Line, Color, Space, and Values of the Black and White use. There is also Repetition in the shapes and color use. I made the rectangles in an less sharp form to relate to the butterfly. My Sub-Ideas are empty for now because I haven't made many pieces to go with it yet, and I only have one example for now because I've been shifting between to mediums but I now settled with oil paint. I think once I'm finished with filling out the blank spots, it will look more complete but overall, I like how my concept map is turning out.

BUSINESS CARD
Cycles Day 1
IDEAS:
-EYE MOVEMENT DURING THE STAGES
-EYE FALLING ASLEEP IN EACH SQUARE
-4-6 SQUARES
THE CONCEPT BEHIND MY THEME FOR THE SHOW "CYCLES" IS ABOUT SLEEP, I WANT TO MAKE A PAINTING OF AN EYE SLOWLY FALLING ASLEEP. SHOWING HOW WE FALL ASLEEP EVERYDAY. I FOUND AN ART PIECE ON INSTAGRAM AWHILE BACK THAT INSPIRED MY IDEA, BUT I CAN'T REMEMBER WHO OR WHERE IT WAS POSTED.

Cycles Day 2: Sleep Cycle Influences and Literary Devices
Two literary devices I often use in my pieces are; symbolism and metaphors. I want to input symbolism and metaphorical meaning into my pieces to create a sense of surrealism with sleep while giving it a message behind the piece.
Cycles Day 3: Principles and Elements of Design
Elements and Principles of Design I will be using for my piece are; Line, Movement to represent the REM cycle, Shape and Form for the eyes, Value, Space between the boxes, Color of the eyes and skin, Proportion, Pattern, and Contrast
Day 4: Subplots
During the Rapid Eye Movement stage, everything increases, your heart rate, how fast your eyes are moving from side to side, and your breathing. To show that through dreams, I'm going to make the background nightmare-like since nightmares tend to also increase the same things listed for REM.
Day 5: Planning
- While eyes are closed, there are another set of eyes but faded on top to represent the REM stage during the sleep cycle.
- Dark toned (nightmare like)

Day 6: Camera POV
The camera point of view that interests me is the Extreme Low Angle because it creates this sense of dominance. I want to incorporate this point of view into my piece to add experimentation and just to do something out of my comfort zone.
